The Boston Bruins captured their first Stanley Cup in 39 years on Wednesday night, defeating the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 in a thrilling Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. Tim Thomas made 37 saves for the Bruins, who shut out the Canucks for the second time in the series.

The Bruins got on the board first in the first period when Nathan Horton scored a power-play goal. David Krejci and Mark Recchi added goals in the second period to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead.

The Canucks pulled goalie Roberto Luongo in the third period, but the Bruins held on for the victory. Patrice Bergeron added an empty-net goal with 1:09 remaining to seal the win.
